Law
and order situation
It is unfortunate that
the government's drive against illegal arms could
not achieve the desired result. After the drive, no
change in law and order situation is observed and
the incidence of crime, particularly kidnapping, killing
of innocent people and highway robberies, have indeed
sent a wave of shock and resentment among the Karachiites.
The high rate of crimes
clearly indicates that the criminals have sufficient
arms and ammunition. This reality is not only creating
panic and unrest among the people but also lessening
the confidence of people on the government. Traders,
shopkeepers, artists even a common man, are feeling
insecure. The dacoits and robbers commit crimes in
daylight that proves the inefficiency of our police
because a number of crimes have taken place in the
presence of police and rangers on the spot. Quaid-c-Azam
had said that the first duty of a government is to
maintain law and order so that the life, property
and religious beliefs of its subjects are fully protected
by the. state. Although the government is taking measures
to control the law and order situation, however, the
prevailing situation can not be termed ideal. Needless
to mention here that under the deteriorating law and
order situation, all efforts for revival of the national
economy would be fruitless. Since the President has
vowed to crack down on the coutry's gun culture, no
laxity be given to the criminals and speedy justice.
The gravity of the situation demands that the government
plan to combat with the criminal gangs to control
terrorism.

The core issue of Kashmir
has once again ignited to hostile nations Pakistan
and India at the brink of yet anotehr war in their
short history. Flames of exasperation, revenge and
hostility are burning on either sides and there is
no dearth of aggressive words either. Armaments and
military personals are being rushed to frontiers to
safeguard their countries. People living along borders
are evacuating their houses, precautions against possible
air raids are being given to people. Both sides have
imposed sanctions of air space violation. Any air
space violation shall be met with a severe a consequence
that was the word from their respective Ministries
of Defence. Diplomatic ties have been suspended. Possibilities
of war have become a street talk now days. This all
sums up that the forecast is pretty cloudy and has
the potential to escalate further if the prevailing
situation continues with this magnitude Pakistan and
India have been spending a large chunk of money on
modernizing military gadgets, missiles and nuclear
technologies. Both sides are trying to get egde over
each other in military and nuclear technology. Even
inhabitable place like Siachen is consuming considerable
resources from both sides. War of words has been on
since independence from British rule. Both sides have
been blaming each other for infiltrating and harboring
cross border terrorists. Both countries have been
elucidad their acts as jingoism. They never let go
any opportunity to tarnish each other's image on electronic
and print .Kashmir issue needs world's attention before
it gets of hands. World can be racked by tremors if
nucIear war gets engulfed in this region. This region
posses a globel threat.
Leaders of both countries
have signed many accords but all efforts have gone
in vain. Every problem has a solution. It is time for
cooler and sane heads to prevail. Result oriented
dialogues should be held at neutral venues top leaders
of the world should help in solving this dispute.
Any break out of war will directly affect the already
rundown huge populace of these underdeveloped rival
will push them decades behind in the race of development
and progress. It's high time that not only leaders
but also people of these two nations realize immense
threats of this core issue and bring about an end
to this conflict once for all.

The terrorist attacks
in New York City and Washington have affected the
British people profoundly. Having lived in New York
for four amazing years, I was devastated by the events.
What troubles me and an increasing number of British
People is whether Americans have learned a lesson.
Before the tragedy, the U.S. was very tolerant of
the I.R.A. and its proponents, giving refuge and financial
support. I.R.A. members are terrorists. They kill
innocent men, women and children. I hope and pray
that Americans will carry out a war against terrorism
in all its forms. Being ignorant is no excuse.

It's easy enough to
say terrorists represent pure evil, but it's also
helpful to ask; What is it in U.S. behavior that drove
them to such hatred? From their perspective, they
see an imperialist American acting as the world's
policeman only when it conveniently serves U.S. economic
interests. But where was the U.S. when thousands of
African civilians were massacred by military regimes?
And what are we doing as millions die of AIDS in Africa
and children still starve in many countries? I can
see why posturing by a rich country is seen as arrogant.
